Major Update Adds iCloud Support, Effects Browser, Vintage and Miniaturize Effects and Smart Alignment Guides There's a lot still to see, but Mountain Lion is already off to a very strong start.AugPixelmator Adds Support for OS X Mountain Lion Greater consistency between the two also lowers the learning bar for new users, with the reassurance – for them, and for the more tech-minded family members who inevitably become the unofficial helpdesk – of things like Gatekeeper. ![]() ![]() What we've seen already with Mountain Lion – and will no doubt see more of as the developer preview is explored – is that there's a lot to be gained from integrating gestures and cross-platform interoperability if you're both a Mac and an iOS user. Opinions remain divided as to whether OS X evolving to incorporate iOS-style features is a good thing or not. "With Mountain Lion, Mac users can now get the same functionalities they are used to on iOS which starts to merge functionalities of both platforms" Tim Bajarin, Principle Analyst, Creative Strategies Inc. There'll be greater integration between your iPhone, your iPad, your iPod touch and your Mac, and more chance of you having access to the documents, music, videos and other content you want while you're at home, at work or on the move. If all that sounds confusing, then just be reassured by the likely end results: more efficient Mac apps that look better, run better, use less power and allow your MacBook battery to last longer. You can override this on a case-by-case basis, or set Gatekeeper to allow any applications to be installed as per previous versions of OS X via the Security section of System Preferences, but many users are likely to leave the default in place. By default Mountain Lion will be set to only allow installations from either the Mac App Store or from downloads that has been signed with Developer ID. Users can choose from three Gatekeeper security settings. The cost of getting a Developer ID is included in the existing subscription fees for the Mac Developer Program, and Apple says signing an application is the work of a few clicks thanks to its integrated Xcode signature tool. When users download an app with a Developer ID, Gatekeeper can check to ensure that the software hasn't been flagged as malware, that the developer themselves haven't been distributing malware, and that the app itself hasn't been tampered with. Members of the Mac Developer Program can now get a Developer ID, a unique identifying code for each developer. ![]()

![]() ![]() Petit Chablis is its own appellation and the least prestigious of the titles. ![]() There are 40 climats (vineyard sites) around Chablis which are deemed worthy of the premier cru title, and these are further subdivided into roughly 80 specific vineyards. Similar to the Côte d'Or, grand cru vineyards have their own appellation title (although these are not individual but grouped together – presumably due to the fact that the grand cru sites form a single block).Īgain, much like Burgundy villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin or Chambolle-Musigny, the Chablis appellation covers both Chablis "villages" (the basic Chablis) and Chablis Premier Cru, with the latter sites forming part of that same appellation. However, officially speaking, the picture is a little different. Starting from the top, they are: Chablis Grand Cru, Chablis Premier Cru, Chablis and Petit Chablis. Generally speaking, the vineyards of Chablis are classified into four tiers of quality. Petit Chablis wines are most often grown on these. Kimmeridgian soils are the source of the trademark minerality in premier and grand cru wines from Chablis.īy contrast, Portlandian soils are not so rich in clay and fossils, which results in slightly fruitier wines with a less mineral profile. Kimmeridgian soil is more highly regarded it contains greater levels of mineral-rich clay, as well as the essential marine fossils which are responsible for its significant lime content. A key division within Chablis lies between terroirs with Kimmeridgian soils and those with Portlandian soils. The effects of terroir on wine can be seen more clearly in Chablis than almost anywhere else. Despite all of these differences, the wines of Chablis tend to be classified as part of Burgundy by most retailers and other wine professionals. ![]() It was a relatively late addition to the Duchy of Burgundy in the 15th Century and locals do not necessarily identify as Burgundian. Politically and administratively, Chablis is located in northern Burgundy, although it lies in the department of the Yonne rather than the Côte d'Or. Consequently, Chablis has a cooler climate than the rest of Burgundy, and similar vineyard macroclimates to Champagne. They are in fact closer to Sancerre (Loire) and Les Riceys (southern Champagne) and the city of Paris. The town and its vineyards are located a considerable distance (more than 100 kilometers/60 miles) northwest of Burgundy's main wine-producing areas from the Côte de Nuits to the Maconnais. Most basic Chablis is fermented and aged in stainless steel, with use of oak barrels more common in higher-level wines, though used larger barrels are more likely to be employed than new barriques, and wines will spend a shorter time in them than in the Côte d'Or. They are drier and fresher, rather than more weighty and richly flavored. ![]() I live in Hawaii and the ocean water here is warmer than this place! The Prank Tank ride in particular drops you into a pool that is literally as frigid as ice water. One thing I couldn't get past was how COLD the water is at most all of the attractions. If you can get past the crowds, long lines, and uphill hiking you'll probably enjoy the place. Sure wish I would have known that beforehand! A lot more raft conveyor belts would be a huge improvement to Water World. For an extra charge you can go to a shorter line and have a raft waiting for you at a few rides. We waited over an hour for some attractions, and you'll also do a lot of uphill walking - many times carrying a large raft. Therefore it's almost always packed - and I mean jam-packed. Since Water World is by far the biggest and best water park in a city as large as Denver, it attracts people from all over the metro area and beyond. This place is massive and loaded with great water rides and attractions. ![]() They should also consider installing lift systems for those big heavy rafts or just use regular inner tubes. I just wish that their lifeguards and moniters just simply assign all single riders with other single riders or with small groups of two which works fine with me and I would have a good time. At least for me one ride on my favorites was still better than none. At the end of the day, I left them a complaint but in a politeful way. I also noticed that other guests were allowing their friends cut in line while they were someplace else which was also rude to me since I would only see two of them and no friend to make it three or four. Lugging big heavy rafts uphill was exhausting along with hot sidewalks to burn your feet. Lucky for me I was able to get permission from other couples to ride with after telling them that it would easier for three people to carry the raft up compared to two people. I was very dissapointed and I felt I was discriminted while all of the other guests had friends while I didn't. The big rides such as Journey to the Center of the Earth and Storm were my favorites but I was barred from them after reading signs saying "NO SINGLE RIDERS". I had to visit this park as a single guest since I have no friends that wanted to come with me. Weather was sunny and hot and was the perfect thing for me. I will most likely visit water world again with my children but not until they are old enough to enjoy the rides and be somewhat helpful. We also used a locker for our money, which was 50 cents everytime you locked it (not bad). You can leave the park and come back in with your ticket stub. not sure how you would do that with small children. Sometimes carrying the tubes uphill can be a chore. There is alot of walking and I would recommend wearing shoes or flip flops that you can wear on your wrist during the rides. Children ticket prices are not much cheaper. I had a coupon for $6 off an entrance ticket but still paid $70 for my husband and I to get in. ![]() Was going to get a mini pizza but they were $9. MId-afternoon we stopped for nachos and a pepsi which was $7. We didn't take food in but that would be the way to go. The best ride by far was the Revolution it is fast, exciting and can ride 4 adults. the whole ride is black and you cannot see a thing, then it's over. ![]() It was probably the neatest ride with cool animation and it is a good family ride Not fast enough for our group. the journey to the center of the earth wasn't as great as I had thought. We didn't stop there until the end of our day so I wasn't willing to waste $30 at the very end of the day and go home. The tube vallet is only good for 3 rides (journey to the center of the earth and storm, cannot remember the other one), so I would recommemend it if you can use it first thing in the morning and throughout your day. We were there 5-6 hours and had to wait in line for at least half that time period. We grabbed a table near the wave pool and left a bag and towels, and nothing got stolen. Many tables to sit at and set up picnics, etc. so thank goodness we were a few that knew their way around. Recently visited water world on a saturday with a group of adults. ![]() ![]() I still want the gameplay to take center stage which is why I alluded to not wanting to create an emotional game. What you have right now is interesting and kinda fun for a few minutes, but you won't be able to make an actual game out of it unless you are willing to make some pretty sizable changes.Ĭlick to expand. The storyboard I have for the game involves touching on chattel slavery and race relations during the old west period. As a player gets better, they might learn shortcuts that allow them to skip some of the boring stuff at the beginning. This approach would lend itself to a very tightly crafted revenge story as well as allowing you to take direct control over the pacing and tension, but death would still matter (as it does in a rogue like). The catch is that when you die, you go all the way back to the beginning. Players would also be able to learn the layout. The level would, of course, start out easy and get increasingly difficult, but it would all be planned out to have plenty of cover and relatively small groups of enemies. If it were my game, I would create one, somewhat long, and very difficult level ending with the final boss, who you are taking revenge on. So designing the game to support it would be a pretty good idea. It's a clean and simple revenge story that feels as if it jumped right out of a spaghetti western. Aside from the fighting, what really works about your game is the story. That wouldn't be a problem if it fit in with the rest of the game, but because it doesn't it makes more sense to scrap it than the entire combat system. The caves it generates are, frankly, rather boring. ![]() As I mentioned earlier, It doesn't really fit well with the other design elements. I think that the best way to keep the identity of your game intact and also make it playable is to get rid of the procedural generation. Plus, the combat is what distinguishes your game from Nuclear Throne, so changing it would really make this game feel like an imitation (right now it just kinda looks like one.). It feels like a cross between a Tarantino film with a lot less blood. There is some actual tension in hiding behind cover and waiting to jump into the fight. Right now, you get the sense that you are fighting against opponents who are largely your equals, as opposed to Nuclear Throne's monsters. Not only would you lose the (fantastic) feature of enemies using the turrets, but it would also fundamentally change the game's identity. It would encourage circle strafing and more player movement in general. This is what Nuclear Throne does, and it works very well for them. One option is to make the enemy bullets slower. The way I see it, there are two ways to fix this: change the moment to moment gameplay, or change the overall design. The design is contradictory at almost every level. ![]() Combine that with the fact that you start over fresh every time and your chances of getting farther than about level 3 are pretty slim. In your game, the level generation frequently creates large, empty spaces and the layout changes every time you die. The issue with that is that Hotline Miami's combat only works because there is plenty of cover and you can learn the level layouts by dying over and over again. You've combined the procedural generation of Nuclear Throne with the hit-scan (technically in this it's just very fast bullets) combat of Hotline Miami. The problem is that what you have right now can't really be balanced in any meaningful way. I really like the concept for the story and what you have so far feels pretty good (Those sound effects are awesome!). ![]() |
